A New Heart

Thoughts by Pastor Brad...

God says to Israel in Ezekiel 36:26-27; And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.  And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is in the Old Testament.  Some believe that God saved people differently in the Old Testament than He did after Jesus Christ died and rose again.  God always planned to save humanity through the gospel of Jesus Christ from Genesis to Revelation.  He did provide specific laws and regulations for the Hebrew slaves coming out of Egypt because of their hard hearts, but that does not negate His plan to save us by grace through faith.  Some have said to me that God saved people by works in the OT and by faith in the NT.  That is false theology because God does not change!  Praise God for this text in Ezekiel and for His plan to take the stony hearts of Israel and make them tender and responsive to the Holy Spirit who would give them power to keep His commands for their own good.  Do you have a stony heart today?  Give your life to Jesus and He will give you a heart transplant.  There is no fixing that natural heart of stone as God will give you a new heart responsive to His Word and His Spirit.
