Paul says in Galatians 1:8; “Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you.” Paul was called out of the world of legalism or works righteousness into the world of proclaiming the Good News to the Gentiles. The gospel is simply God’s act of saving humanity through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Jesus paid the debt for the sins of the world. Our job is to open the gift of salvation by faith and daily experience God’s presence and peace through a life of surrender. There is no merit in either the act of faith or the life of surrender. These are all means by which we can experience what God has already done in Christ. Don’t let anyone or anything in your own mind take you away from the purity of the Good News in Jesus Christ. Paul is clear in this verse that if we try to mix the gospel of Jesus with our own “good works” we will be cursed. Place your trust in the One who has saved you through his sacrifice for your sins today.
