Ezekiel 3:1 says; The voice said to me, “Son of man, eat what I am giving you—eat this scroll! Then go and give its message to the people of Israel.” Ezekiel had just seen the vision of God’s glory and the Spirit of God entered the prophet. God told Ezekiel to eat the scroll and share it with the rebellious people of Judah who were rejecting Him. Even though the scroll was sweet to his mouth, Ezekiel departed after the vision in “bitterness and turmoil”. Why was Ezekiel filled with bitterness and turmoil? He was called to give God’s message to people who did not want to hear it. Is it any different today? This world is becoming more secular and the pure testimony of God in Christ is seen as narrower than ever before. Kanye West is coming out strongly as a Christian and most of Hollywood is mocking his statements and actions of faith. We are called to eat the scroll, absorb the Word of God, and let His light shine through us for all the world to see. The good news is that God is greater and more powerful than all the sin and rejection of this world. The end of this passage in Ezekiel chapter 3 verse 14 says; “The Spirit lifted me up and took me away. I went in bitterness and turmoil, but the Lord’s hold on me was strong.” God’s grip is strong. Let Him take hold of Your life today.
