Returning to the Lord

Thoughts by Pastor Brad...

God tells Jeremiah in chapter 16:19; “If you return to me, I will restore you so you can continue to serve me.  If you speak good words rather than worthless ones, you will be my spokesman.  You must influence them; do not let them influence you!”  Jeremiah just finished complaining to God about how he was persecuted and rejected by the people of Judah.  He wished that he was never born.  God responds by calling Jeremiah to return to Him for it seems that this discouragement had caused the prophet to water down or stop preaching God’s messages all together. Jeremiah was being influenced by the people who were rejecting God.  We must be God’s light in the world of darkness without being influenced by those who are living for themselves in this world of sin.  The ways of this world might seem like fun for a moment, but they pleasure of this world never lasts.  Seek God and His kingdom.  Return to His loving arms and He will give you peace and joy that the world cannot match.
