Self-Control

Thoughts by Pastor Brad...

1 Peter 1:13 shares; So, prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.  Self-control can only come when we place our hope in Christ and His gracious salvation.  The last fruit of the Spirit in Galatians chapter 5 is self-control.  It’s not self-control, but God-control.  We prepare our minds for action and exercise God-control by studying the Word, prayer, and learning to surrender to the power source that conquers all sin and temptation.  The Holy Spirit has been commissioned by God with power of the resurrection to fill us and give us the ability to fight off sin and selfish desires with the armor of God.  Let’s focus on Jesus this morning and see how the Spirit will empower us to live righteously for others today.
