Temptation

Thoughts by Pastor Brad...

1 Corinthians 10:13 says, No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.  Oswald Chambers comments on this passage by saying; “Not to be tempted would mean that we were already so shameful that we would be beneath contempt. Yet many of us suffer from temptations we should never have to suffer, simply because we have refused to allow God to lift us to a higher level where we would face temptations of another kind.”  We all suffer temptation because we have sinful natures.  Temptations will be with us until we are changed to immortality at the resurrection.  Chambers talks about different levels of temptation.  Many are stuck with the same temptation for years because they refuse to allow God to take them on a higher spiritual level.  David shares in Psalm 61:2; From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.  What is keeping you from allowing God to take you to the next level with Him?  This does not mean that you will have no more temptation; you will just deal with different types.  Surrender to the Lord and He will give you victory over temptation and take you to another higher spiritual level in Christ today.
