Hebrews 5:12-13 says; You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. The writer of Hebrews is admonishing the listeners for not growing in Christ. They were not sharing and teaching others about the gospel and were spiritually regressing. They were still drinking milk when they needed to be growing with the solid food that can grow them and spur them on to share the truth with others. One of my sons (will not name him) loved to be breast fed. It was great for a time, but eventually he needed to be weaned before he started to ask my wife Julie for milk in complete sentences! We must grow in God’s Word and build our lives on Jesus today! The solid food of the Word that we digest will spur us on to teach others and grow by God’s grace. If we don’t grow, we will spiritually atrophy and weaken just like muscles that are not exercised in the human body. May God bless you on your journey to spiritual grow today in Christ.
