Paul says in Philippians 4:8; “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” How do we fix our thoughts on these righteous things? What stands in the way of that focus? Peter was fixed on Jesus and was able to walk on the water until he became distracted with the reality of the storm and the waves. Peter suddenly sank like a rock, but the Rock was right there to pull him up from certain death. Fixing our thoughts on pure and godly things means that we need to remove the clutter by the power of the Holy Spirit that is in the way. Clutter is any earthly possession or relationship that can distract us from communion with God. I know plenty in my life as God has revealed them to me. Have you allowed the Spirit to show you those blind spots and barriers? Are you willing to purge them from your life? God will give you the power to do it if you let Him into that area.
