Interceding with God’s Heart

Jesus shares in Luke 18:1; Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.  This was the introduction to the parable of the widow who would not give up on getting justice from the judge of her town.  God calls us to pray without ceasing and never give up in interceding on behalf of ourselves, others, and situations.  How we intercede is what will determine our spiritual growth in the process.  Oswald Chambers in today’s devotion says; People describe intercession by saying, “It is putting yourself in someone else’s place.” That is not true! Intercession is putting yourself in God’s place; it is having His mind and His perspective. Chambers continues by stating; What we must avoid in intercession is praying for someone to be simply “patched up.” We must pray that person completely through into contact with the very life of God.  If you are in close contact with God through a life of surrender, you will pray for people with the heart of Jesus.  Our goal is not to patch people up, but to lead them to God who can transform their lives.  This godly intercession with grow us as we pray that God will grow in others.
