Thoughts from Pastor Roly...
This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
John Chapter 17 is the closing prayer that Jesus had with his disciples in the last supper. I encourage you to read the chapter closely as it is one of the most beautiful prayers in the Bible. Yet what I want to draw attention to is v.3. This is the thesis of his prayer: Eternal life is knowing God and Jesus. The importance and power of that statement cannot be ignored. The word used in Greek to “know” is called ginosko. This word was usually used in the intimate setting of a wedding night , and was commonly used to describe the relationship of husband and wife. Jesus’ prayer revealed his deepest desire: That his disciples (and us) would have a relationship with him that would be as intimate as a husband and wife. God wants us to be one with him, are we willing to accept his love?
