I say to you, he who believes in Me…greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. —John 14:12. Chambers shares in this morning devotion; “Prayer does not equip us for greater works— prayer is the greater work. Yet we think of prayer as some commonsense exercise of our higher powers that simply prepares us for God’s work.” He goes on to say; “Prayer is the battle, and it makes no difference where you are. However, God may engineer your circumstances, your duty is to pray.” Do you believe this statement? Prayer is the battle, it is the greater work, because it is our lifeline to eternity. Satan knows this and attacks our prayer lives everyday with a busy life filled with texts, to do lists, and a flood of social media. None of these are bad, but they can keep you from the greater work of prayer. Life is a constant battle and it can only be balanced with peace when we bathe ourselves in prayer. Get on your knees, write out your prayers in a journal, walk and pray in your neighborhood, or even pray on your computer screen. God wants to hear your prayers today. It is the greater work that will produce His works.
