Psalm 73:26 says; “My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.” This popular verse has been quoted, written in song, and preached for centuries. The context of this verse in Psalm chapter 73 deals with the writer Asaph reflecting or even complaining to God about the wicked. They seem to be at peace and living a life of prosperity while the righteous suffer. Asaph admits to envying these people. Then Asaph wakes up and makes this confession that God is the strength of his heart and his portion forever even if his health fails and things are falling apart. Is God the strength of your heart today? Your health will eventually fail if time should last and even your mind may become soft in old age. But God will always be the strength of your heart if you give Him room today. Praise God that He is the our true strength today.
